Fritschi Xenic 10
Very light ski touring pin bindings combining top-quality materials and modern technologies with an emphasis on riding safety. In the range of 4 - 10 DIN.
In the 2019/20 season, the Fritschi brand introduced a new model, the Xenic 10, in the category of lightweight bindings, ideal for skis up to 105 mm under the heel. The Xenic 10 weighs only 280 g (560 g/pair) without brakes and will be especially appreciated by ski mountaineers who pedal more, pay attention to weight, but do not want to compromise on safety and comfort of use. Among other things, the Xenic 10 binding model is the result of the modernization of existing Fritschi technologies and offers users various innovations in safety, user comfort and controllability while riding.
Brand new tip and pin jaws from Fritschi
The tip of the Fritschi Xenic binding is completely redesigned. It is the first binding whose pins open and close laterally, i.e. to the side and do not rotate around a fixed point. This mechanism offers two fundamental advantages:
- easy entry into bindings,
- much greater resistance to unwanted shutdown in the event of an impact from below, which can occur at higher speeds or when hitting the skis
- The vertical switch also turns off in walking mode – if you are buried by an avalanche, lose your balance while climbing, or fall during short descents on the tracks.
- made of carbon supplemented with proven modern polymers - they are lighter than metal parts and at the same time have higher strength and durability.
You can also attach crampons to the tip, which are available in three widths: 85 mm, 95 mm and 105 mm. The tip is also equipped with a place to attach a strap when used without brakes.
Swivel heel with adjustable release force
The heel of the Fritschi Xenic 10 binding combines low weight and safety features that were previously only available in heavier ski mountaineering bindings. The heel platform is wide and offers optimal power transfer to the ski, achieving excellent downhill performance. The lateral release force can be adjusted to DIN values from 4 to 10 using a screw on the back of the binding. The precision of the adjustable vertical release force is ensured by independently freely rotating pins (an advantage over U-shaped pins) from DIN strength 4 to 10.
- The transition between pedaling and skiing mode is easy and comfortable with the swivel heel. The heel of the Fritschi Xenic 10 bindings can be easily rotated 180° with the folded heel support, which gives you more leverage.
- The heel can deflect up to 13mm before releasing to prevent unwanted release during impacts and vibrations while riding. Also, when the ski flexes, where the distance between the tip and heel shortens, the heel can move and prevent unwanted release at crucial moments while eliminating damage to the bindings.
Excellent skiing thanks to the active heel
The active sliding heel adapts to the ski boot by up to 10 mm when the ski bends during the ride and allows the ski to bend smoothly along its entire length, which is a necessary feature of the binding for perfect skiing. Bindings that do not have an active heel will cause the ski to bend, stiffen the middle and the ski will bend only in front of and behind the binding, which significantly worsens its riding characteristics. Fritschi has eliminated this problem, which is why the Xenic 10 binding is also perfect for excellent riding pleasure.
Lightweight and above all safe ski touring bindings
The Fritschi Xenic 10 ski touring binding is the best choice for those who want a light and secure binding for downhill skiing without the need for a toe lock. The Xenic 10 binding is designed more for pedaling, but it can handle downhill skiing with ease. Thousands of meters of climbing and great skiing experiences await you with it.
Easy to turn on even on steep slopes
The new generation Fritschi Xenic 10 has an innovative tip that you can "kick" even blindly because it has:
- stops from below,
- stops from the sides,
- ski toe stop,
- sensitive trigger.
Thanks to this, the tip of the ski boot is precisely guided to the correct position when fastening - it is located between the tips and the sensitive trigger and, with just a little pressure, releases the tips, which fit precisely into the inserts in the ski boot.
